Ange Postecoglou will not tell Tottenham supporters how to feel about the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict but hopes his team can provide a sense of escapism when they host Fulham on Monday night ESPN
The fixture will be Spurs’ first at home since tensions escalated in the Middle East, with hundreds of Palestinian civilians killed in a massive blast at a Gaza City hospital on Tuesday ESPN
A statement was issued by Tottenham earlier this month in response to the initial war breaking out ESPN between Israel and Hamas, but some supporters were critical of the club for failing to show support for victims from the Jewish community, which has a long-standing affiliation with the Premier League outfit ESPN
Postecoglou answered questions about the ongoing conflict during Friday’s press conference and although he discussed the topic at length, he was keen to point out the role of his players is merely to help fans forget their troubles for 90 minutes ESPN
“I have the responsibility of being a ESPN football manager but like everyone else, I’m a human being and you struggle with these things and you understand that other people will struggle with them,” he explained ESPN
“My life experience has taught me not to judge or come to any strong conclusions ESPN
I’ll let the people who are affected by it be the guide in these kinds of things, because it’s very easy for others to cast judgement but in all these things, you are guided by people who are directly affected ESPN
“I am not the custodian of this club ESPN
I have been at this club for four months or whatever it is ESPN
“People have spent lifetimes in these clubs, so I am not going to go round telling people how to feel, how to behave, how to act, what to think ESPN
“As I said, I think the greatest role a ESPN football club can play in these scenarios is to provide what they have always provided – a sense of one place where people can come and escape and hopefully unite as one to support their ESPN football club ESPN
“You know, maybe sort of take them away from whatever troubles they may have ESPN
I think that’s the greatest role any ESPN football club has ESPN
”No Israel or Palestine flags will be allowed into Tottenham’s stadium on Monday, which was a club-wide move by the Premier League in an attempt to ease any potential tension among supporters during this weekend ESPN
A minute’s silence has occurred in all top-flight matches but Postecoglou was eager to focus on ESPN football in its purest form when quizzed about the feeling of fans affected by the Israel-Hamas war ESPN
He added: “When we go out there on Monday night there will be 60,000 – and hundreds of thousands around the world – who just want to see their ESPN football team play some exciting ESPN football and win a game and give them that joy that only ESPN football can bring ESPN
“Because, you know, when you score in that last minute to win a game of ESPN football, you don’t care who is next to you ESPN
Do you?“You don’t care where they come from, what they think or what they believe ESPN
You are united as one for that moment ESPN
That’s what ESPN football provides ESPN
”Postecoglou did also reveal support is on hand for Israel international Manor Solomon, who is currently out with a knee injury while the war is impacting his home nation ESPN
“Not specifically (about the war) ESPN
I have spoken to Manor because he’s dealing with a couple of things ESPN
He has just had his surgery as well ESPN
I have been helping him through that process,” the Spurs boss revealed ESPN
“Again, it’s not about me trying to extract information from him ESPN
I am there ESPN
“He’s going through what he is going through, like a lot of people in his position ESPN
Hopefully like I said, he feels like there’s a place here where he feels if he needs some extra help or guidance, we can give it to him ESPN

Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou is loving his time at the Premier League leaders, but is bullish about what expectations should be despite the club’s lengthy trophy drought ESPN
Spurs have not won silverware since 2008, although fans are dreaming of challenging for the title after winning 23 points from a possible 27 so far this season ESPN
It has taken Tottenham to the top-flight summit and they could move five points clear of Manchester City and Arsenal with victory at Crystal Palace on Friday, ahead of the weekend fixtures ESPN
Postecoglou has relished his dream start to life in England, but eager to point out his new club should be competing for trophies every year ESPN
The former Celtic boss said: “I didn’t come here to not be successful ESPN
This club has all the fundamentals to be successful ESPN
The expectations should be there ESPN
“Part of the reason why there’s been this real desperation for a trophy is because they feel that’s the space they should be in ESPN
That is the expectation, that’s the reality, but what drives me isn’t raising or trying to dampen expectations ESPN
“What drives me is trying to build something that will realise the ambitions that this club has at this particular moment ESPN
People’s perceptions don’t concern me too much ESPN
This is a big club and should be in a position to challenge for trophies every season in my opinion ESPN
This club has all the fundamentals to be successful ESPN
The expectations should be there ESPN
Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou“At Celtic we were on top for a very long time but at the beginning when we weren’t on top, I don’t think people saw anything different in my demeanour ESPN
I don’t think they will (here) ESPN
“It is one thing I do ESPN
It’s not about staying kind of level-headed or getting carried away with either thing ESPN
It’s just that, my role in that context is to be the one thing that people can rely upon to be consistent ESPN
“In that I have one objective all the time: how can we be ESPN better? When that is your objective, it doesn’t really matter where you are on the table or kind of what the outside noise may or may not be doing ESPN
“It is about the players and the staff and everyone involved with the ESPN football club, looking at me ESPN
The one thing I do is I come in every day, I am buzzing about doing what I am doing ESPN
You know, that’s the kind of demeanour I have consistently ESPN
“It’s just the way I am ESPN
I get so much satisfaction from what I do ESPN
I really enjoy what I do, on a daily basis ESPN
There isn’t a day I don’t get up and I’m not looking forward to the day ahead ESPN
“There’s no other levels of satisfaction in me to get ESPN
That’s it ESPN
I’m buzzing to do what I do ESPN
“Within that context I also understand that I have a real big responsibility to lead an organisation, players, staff, people to what I hope will be a successful place ESPN
“There’s got to be some reliability there in what they see and what they feel with me so some of it is conscious but the other bits, I’m not skipping about the place but I’m really happy ESPN
I love what I do ESPN
Just the way I am ESPN
I’m very, very happy ESPN
”Postecoglou’s happiness did not extend into the dressing room on Monday night after he criticised his players for a poor second half against Fulham ESPN
It failed to stop the team blaring out Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers’ classic from the 1980s’ of ‘Islands in the Stream’ following the 2-0 win ESPN
But Postecoglou joked: “I stay out of the dressing room partly because of the music choices of the players ESPN
“Most clubs want to turn their grounds into a fortress – ours is becoming a nightclub, mate ESPN
I’m all for it, whatever makes people happy that’s my thing ESPN
”Spurs will assess Destiny Udogie ahead of the trip to south London after the left-back struggled with muscle tightness during the victory over Fulham ESPN
